About The Artist

Animation and art have always been my passion. From the time I could hold a pencil, I covered everything I could get my hands on; the White Pages, post-it notes, notepads, and school textbooks with flip-book style drawings. Now, I am ready to turn that passion into a career.

My name is Laura Emery, and I am a 26-year old animator currently living in the Seattle area. I attended the Columbus College of Art & Design 2008, receiving a BFA in 2008. I studied studio art and art history, then traditional and Flash animation, before finally settling on 3D animation. After college, I wanted to hone my animation skills to become a better animator. I took a freelance animation job for the Ohio State Bar Association. The income from the animation project was used to attend the Digital Character Animation course at the Vancouver Film School where I received an Autodesk Maya Student Certification Level One. My mentors Greg Berridge and Steve Taylor were instrumental in teaching me a great deal about character animation and Maya. I graduated from VFS in June 2011 and feel well prepared to start my career as a professional animator.

While I always hope to keep learning and growing in the industry, I am confident in my skills and abilities. I have a strong work ethic and excellent organizational skills that have aided the completion of a few short animated films which I could apply to larger, more challenging projects. I also think my innate sense of humour will lend itself well to numerous projects; there is nothing more rewarding that seeing one's hard work on screen bringing laugher to its audience. I wish to bring my dedication and sincere love for the art of character and movement to a great company, where I can continue to learn from my peers while contributing to the growth of the company. I sincerely look forward to working with you in the future!
